Filip Van Droogenbroeck
Biografie
Filip Van Droogenbroeck is a research professor at the Sociology department. He obtained his master degree in sociology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He joined the TOR research group in February 2010 where he obtained his PhD in Sociology with a dissertation on the end of career and mental health of teachers. Filip has extensive experience in the design, data-collection, analysis, and valorisation of large scale quantatitive research.
His main research interests include sociology of youth, sociology of education, educational policy, compassion and altruism research. He currently coordinates projects such as the 'Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS 2018 Flanders)' and the 'Holocaust Police and Human rights project'. His broader interests are in consciousness and science philosophy with a focus on the mind-body problem. In 2018 he was awarded the European Varela Award for his research project 'compassionate attitude training in a challenging school context in Brussels.' Apart from his research, he teaches statistics for the social sciences.
